Our family of four stayed at this hotel during part of our vacation to Japan. At first, I was on the fence at staying in a traditional Japanese hotel, but after comparing prices, I booked the Akihabara Nakagawa Inn. The hotel is well situated in the side skirts of the Akihabara area within a comfortable walking distance to a handful of metro stations. Along with a Lawson that is caddy corner to the hotel, there are many eateries and convenience stores close by. Our room was on the larger side of a lot of hotel rooms in Japan, but not as spacious at depicted on the website. The room consisted of two areas divided by a sliding screen wall, small entry way for shoes and a bathroom with a bathtub. The room had four foldable futon mats that were not too friendly on the back and a traditional Japanese floor table that we used to hold luggage. Other amenities included toothbrushes, mini fridge, tea set, blow drier, bidet, shampoo, conditioner and body wash. There are no actual curtains in the room, only a tissue paper like sliding screen - mind you the sun comes up around 4 a.m. I will say that the room was exceptionally clean! Albeit very tiny, the restroom was spotless. I really can't find anything wrong with the hotel, it was just too traditional for me.

First in foremost the location is Superb, very near to Lawson Grocery, Local Authentic Japanese Restaurant, Train Station, Shopping area Akihabara and Ueno Market which we enjoy the most. Secondly we came late around 11pm, but we are so surprised when we reached the place in the main entrance you we found a welcome letter addressed personally to me with an instruction on how to do the self checked in. No hassle in checking in late. The room was so clean and organized as what Japanese are well known of. All the toiletries are provided like towels, toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, bodywash and disposable shaving razor. Internet connection are strong, we love the traditional Japanese house set up with Futon Mattress and Tatami Mats. My kids enjoy every aspect of our room from the bed to windows and door; It so Japanese. Lastly they allow us to checkout late as 4PM because we got a late flight back to our home country. All the staffs are respectful, can speak English and so helpful. Definitely we are coming back and we will recommend this place to our friends and relatives. Highly recommended!! Overall 9/10 rating for this Hotel/Inn.

AMAZING location - an easy walk from Akihabara and Ueno, with multiple transit stations close by for easy access to the rest of Tokyo. The room was a reasonable size for 2 people, and the bathroom was small but well appointed - a good shower and bath with a bidet toilet. Train noise was present during the stay, but we didn't find it disturbed our sleep. Staff were very helpful, and there's a Yamato Transport office right next door for luggage forwarding. Very close to multiple restaurants, and an easy walk from several 24/7 shops (Lawson and Don Quijote). Microwaves available for Konbini meals if needed! Make sure to check out the craft shops right across the road when you're there! We missed it until our last day.

Location was great, especially if you travelling from Narita Airport. We are travelling with a 7-year-old, a baby in baby stroller, 1 large suitcase 1 small suitcase, 1 large backpack,Walking in the rain after getting off the train from Narita Airport was not too bad! Super clean and the lift was helpful. Beds were very comfortable, Staff was very friendly but you may need a translator app to communicate properly. Close to many places to eat and we had a few Japanese breakfasts nearby. A microwave on each floor was super handy and saved us a lot of money by getting dinners from 7/11 and Lawsons. Fridge/Freezer in the room as well as a kettle and drinking water was nice touch. Definitely stay here again.

This place is a gem! Just a 2–3-minute walk and you’ll find yourself in a buzzing area full of restaurants, bars where locals hang out, and tons of shopping options. The rooms are super cozy with a 100% Japanese vibe—futon beds on tatami floors, super clean and warm. The downside? The walls aren’t soundproof, so mornings can get a bit noisy if guests are checking out. The staff are helpful enough and can speak English pretty well. All in all, totally worth it for the price, especially if you want a real Japanese-style experience in a prime spot!
